Charlotte Metro Foundation awards Assistive Technology Grant

On 5/9/2019 at the annual meeting of the Charlotte Metro Federal Credit Union, Metrolina Association for the Blind was awarded a $10,000 grant to provide Assistive Technology to Improve Lives of People Living with Vision Loss. This is the inaugural gift from the newly formed Charlotte Metro Foundation and will be used to provide 50 Amazon Echo Dots and training to our clients so they can access basic information such as time, date, weather, set timers and alarm clocks as well as to access books, music, and podcasts for self-communication. In addition, the grant will be used for marketing to the public about rehabilitation services that are available through the agency to reduce the daily challenges caused by vision loss.
