LOW VISION
The low vision service gives patients the opportunity to gain optical solutions for their daily lives by providing personalized, comprehensive low vision services. The optometrist, Dr. N. Elaine Osborne, provides patients a low vision clinical exam. The exam may include counseling the patient on their eye condition, explaining the eye report, examining for the overall health of the eye, updating the eye glass prescription, and administering medications.
The patient is then seen by a certified low vision therapist to receive a functional low vision evaluation. A patient may be matched and instructed on the appropriate optical and non-optical devices that will help them meet their individual needs. All follow-up instruction is done in the patient’s home.
To receive low vision services, call 704-887-5100 and a case manager will conduct an intake. A new patient will need to provide a current eye report (less than a year old). A clinical exam and functional low vision evaluation at the agency is a one time fee of $35*.
*No one will be denied services due to an inability to pay.
